Start the engines together as much as possible, they are air cooled so quick to operating temp then get the plane out on the runway, none of this pissing around - fuel/weight/money.

That plane reminds me of a TV series called The Flying Tigers back in the eighties. It's a wonderful fighter plane.

As a child in my motherland, mes amis, I read the memoirs of a chap who was a combat pilote of one of these in WWII. He claimed that the Flight Manual stated that the glide-characteristics were SO poor, that if the engine stopped, you should bail-out (if high enough) ... OR 'Whistle A Happy Tune and Kiss Your Ass Goodbye '! ... because a 'dead-stick’ landing was very iffy. 💋

Imagine the sacrifices that valiant men gave flying these machines in the skies above Nazi Germany. Think of the glorious dead who died preserving and protecting our country and constitution. Think again before supporting TRUMP !

Love the sound of the R-2800 Double Wasp at idle. And the F4U is one of my favorite warbirds. I also love flying my RC model versions of them too, don't let them get too slow in the turns to approach for landing or they'll bite you, other than that they always astonish me.

I got to ride on this very B-17 about 20 years ago at Gilespie Field in El Cajon. The crew chief told me that 3 of the engines were made by Studebaker.

As associated with this 4 engine plane I lived about 10 miles from St.Louis airport as a child. This was 1950's when all commercial planes were same engines as this bomber. I have deep seated memory of the sound these planes made when taking off. The sound was a grand roar.

my grandfather flew this to a few shows when he was alive. i also got to tour this aircraft at falcon field. such a cool plane.
